Part-Catered Experience at Halls: A Student's Guide

The University of Southampton's Highfield Halls of Residence provides a distinctive part-catered environment designed to accommodate students' hectic schedules, well-being, and academic performance. Residents living in part-catered housing benefit from a balance between their independence and the convenience of having wholesome meals served during the term-time.

A Focus on Fresh, Nutritious Meals

The catering staff at Campus Kitchen takes great satisfaction in providing delicious, freshly prepared meals that accommodate a variety of dietary requirements, such as gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and other speciality diets. In order to make sure that everyone can enjoy healthful meals that are catered to their needs, students are asked to talk to the catering staff about any special dietary needs they may have. The committed chefs are on hand at all times to give guidance, modify recipes, or share details on the ingredients.

Whether you’re in need of fuel for a challenging day of study or just looking for something comforting to keep you going, the catering team is here to provide delicious and balanced meals that make life easier.

Flexibility for Busy Lifestyles

Living in a part-catered hall such as Highfield Hall has several advantages, one of which is flexibility. Breakfast and a main meal are served to students Monday through Friday, allowing them to choose to eat in the dining halls for their evening meal or to eat on campus throughout the day. In addition, a traditional Sunday lunch is given to cap off the weekend, along with Saturday brunch options.

Breakfast options include a substantial full English or a lighter, healthier option served with a hot or cold drink and fruit juice. Dinner menu items usually include a main course, salad or vegetables of the guest's choosing, dessert, and a soft or hot beverage. Students have the option to buy lunch from one of the several catering establishments on campus with their meal allowance if they so want.

With this adaptable method, students can modify their meal times to fit their busy schedules, which is ideal for those with hectic schedules.

A Welcoming Community Atmosphere

In addition to its many uses, Highfield Hall promotes a strong sense of community. Campus Kitchen's catering staff is renowned for providing warm, welcoming service with the goal of fostering a sense of community among students in their eating areas. Even better, students are welcome to ask their non-catered university friends to join them for dinner—which can be paid for separately with a bank card.

Additional Options for Convenience

Highfield Halls provides a 'breakfast box' takeaway service for those who are unable to make it to the servery. This option, which is available Monday through Friday, offers a substitute for students who have early obligations or who just need a little extra time. Just remember to schedule this service with 48 hours notice.

Embrace the Highfield Halls Experience

Enjoying the part-catered system while living at Highfield Hall allows you to concentrate on your studies and reduces the burden associated with meal preparation because there are always fresh, wholesome, and delicious meals available. Highfield Hall prioritises the well-being and adaptability of its students and offers a hospitable, nurturing atmosphere for each one of its residents.

Moreover, students have access to a small pantry kitchen for food/meals outside of hall meal times.
