You and your friends can apply to return to University halls

Did you know in March 2026 you will have the opportunity to apply to return to halls for a further year?

Every year we offer a number of places in halls to current students. Applications will be open on the accommodation portal from 2-13 March.

Once open those currently living in halls can apply to return to halls with friends and enjoy all the benefits that University of Southampton halls offer:

• Unilink bus pass*
• Sept-July contract option - avoiding year-round rent
• Access to halls events and activities
• Use of laundry and tumble dryers, detergent included
• All-inclusive rents - no additional utility or Wi-Fi bills
• 24-hour reception cover and safe, secure environment
• 24/7 maintenance teams with easy reporting when things break and no maintenance costs to fix it
• Comprehensive contents insurance
• Secure bike storage

*not included for Erasmus Park

Current students who apply to return to University halls are able to apply as a group with friends (and what's more - not all members of the group need to have previously lived in halls).

The application process is the same as for first-year students, with one important exception – you don't need to re-register on the application portal. Priority will be given to students supported by Student Disability and Inclusion, Widening Participation (including Care Leavers) and Student Wellbeing.

When to apply:

Applications will be open between 2-13 March 2026 and we will provide further information nearer the time.

Applications for returners will be made via the accommodation portal once open.
