How to report maintenance issues

Reporting a problem in your flat is really easy, you don't even have to leave your bedroom!

If it is an emergency maintenance issue, please contact your halls reception. Emergency maintenance requests are allocated a "Priority 1" status and we aim to resolve them within 2 hours. Emergency maintenance includes flooding, cracked windows, loss of lighting, anything which is a health and safety concern and any other issue which affects the ability for you/your flatmates to remain in your flat.

For non-emergency requests, you should follow the instructions on the poster in your room, kitchen or corridor (see below for an example). Each poster has a unique QR code related to the room it is in, so make sure to scan the poster for the room that needs maintenance so the team know where to go!

How long will it take to fix my reported maintenance job?

When you report a job it is given a priority based on how urgent the job is. Each priority has an allocated time frame which will give an indication of when the job should have been resolved. Please see below for some common/example queries and expected timelines for resolution of the issue. This is not an exhaustive list and is to give a guide on what you can expect.

Priority 1 (P1) 
Burst water pipe Emergency attend within 2 hours
Total loss of building lighting Emergency attend within 2 hours
Door/frame loose causing security issue Emergency attend within 2 hours
Priority 2 (P2)
Basin/sink waste pipe leaking or blocked Attend within 1 working day
Toilet cistern not flushing, leaking or broken Attend within 1 working day
Paving slabs Lifting or uneven. Unsafe Attend within 1 working day
Priority 3 (P3)
Furniture handle replacement Complete in 1 week
Curtain/Curtain Rail issue Complete in 1 week
Lighting - External lighting faulty Complete in 1 week
Priority 4 (P4)
Silicon Seal Basins / Showers Complete in 2 weeks
Soap/Toilet Roll Dispenser Replace/repair Complete in 2 weeks
Skirting board, loose, rotten or damaged Complete in 2 weeks

Please note time frames cover working days only (Monday to Friday) and don't include weekend days, except for emergency jobs, for example a 24 hour job submitted on a Friday afternoon would have a deadline of Monday afternoon.

If you request to be present or for a non urgent job to be completed on a certain date and/or time this will be categorised a priority 6 (P6), and will be carried out at the agreed time and date. Please note this can delay how soon the issue can be resolved.
