Halls accommodation
Clearing students can apply for Halls accommodation via our online accommodation portal. Clearing students who apply before 17:00 on Monday 17 August will be covered by our Clearing student accommodation guarantee.
Once on the portal you can apply for clearing accommodation by selecting:
New Application > 2026-2027 > New > Undergraduate > New Clearing
Once on "New Clearing" you will be able to view and choose from the Halls accommodation options available to you. You will need to select between 3 and 5 preferences from the options available to you.
Applications after the clearing deadline on Monday 17 August are unlikely to receive an offer of University accommodation and may need to look at alternative options in the private rented sector.
Those covered by the clearing accommodation guarantee will receive an offer of university halls accommodation, or a room in one of our private partner halls, Lucia Foster Welch, Capital House and Southampton Crossings. You can find further details on our private partner halls on the Halls Life website.
Private Rented Accommodation
There are many accommodation options in the private halls within the city of Southampton. To support you in finding suitable accommodation, we recommend exploring the following resources.
On the SASSH website you can find listings of ANUK accredited Private Halls providers within Southampton. ANUK is the Accreditation Network UK and those with accreditation provide student accommodation that meet a number of clear benchmark standards. Full details of the criteria can be found in the National Code standards.
Online accommodation resources
To help you decide on where to look you can find student reviews of private halls within Southampton and Winchester on Student Crowd. Reviews are current students who have lived in accommodation from providers within the city.
