Residents at Archers Road enjoyed a memorable afternoon this week when two friendly alpacas, Archer and Casper, came to visit.
The event gave students the opportunity to meet the animals up close, learn more about them, and enjoy a relaxing break from their daily routines. While there were a few nervous faces at the start, it didn't take long for students to discover just how gentle and curious alpacas can be.
One student said afterwards that at first she was a little hesitant to approach the alpacas but was delighted once she got close enough to stroke them. Before long, there were plenty of smiles, photos, and conversations about the experience.
Students also learned some interesting facts about alpacas, including that they are members of the camel family, communicate through a gentle humming sound, and are highly social animals that prefer the company of others.
A particularly amusing moment came when a student carefully balanced their sunglasses on Casper's head, much to the amusement of everyone watching. The laid-back alpaca seemed quite happy to model them for a photo!
The visit was especially fitting for Archers Road, as one of the alpacas was called Archer. It was a fun coincidence that proved popular with residents throughout the afternoon.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the visit such a success. Events like these are a great way to bring residents together, try something a little different, and create lasting memories in halls.
