Familiarise yourself with our arrivals guidance before you move into halls of residence at South Hill (SO16 3RD).
Key collection
Please head to Chamberlain B block common room, located near the bus interchange, to collect your keys.
Trolleys
Trolleys will be available for you to borrow to unload your belongings into your room.
Parking
Glen Eyre is a large site with multiple parking areas. Please head to the purple parking area upon arrival.
Look out for brightly coloured purple flags to guide you to the parking spaces closest to your block.
Accessing the site
A one-way system will be in operation during the arrivals period. Please familiarise yourself with the route detailed below before your arrival to avoid delays.
Directions via Bassett Avenue (A33)
- Proceed southbound and take a left turn onto Burgess Road (A35), just after Boldrewood Campus.
- Continue straight for approximately one mile.
- At the junction, turn left onto Glen Eyre Road, located just before Shell and Londis on your left.
- Follow the road, and you will reach South Hill (it will be on the left side of the road when you enter the bus interchange/bus layby) and enter the site at Unilink’s Chamberlain bus stop.
- You will see purple signposts stating the letter ‘P’ on your left and right.
Directions via Stoneham Way (A335)
If you are coming from the M27 (via Stoneham Way), please follow these directions carefully:
- Exit the M27 at Junction 5, following signs for A335 Stoneham Way towards Southampton.
- Continue along Stoneham Way (A335) and stay in the right-hand lane.
- Continue straight on Stoneham Way which leads into High Road. From High Road bear right onto Burgess Road just before McDonald’s.
- Head up to Burgess Road until you see signage directing you to turn right onto Glen Eyre Road, just after the Shell and Londis on your right and just after passing Pret a Manger and Costa on your left.
- Follow the road, and you will reach South Hill (it will be on the left side of the road when you enter the bus interchange/bus layby) and enter the site at Unilink’s Chamberlain bus stop.
- You will see purple signposts stating the letter ‘P’ on your left and right.
Traffic control
- Some roads, like Glen Eyre Road, have recently been updated with traffic-calming measures (road furniture), which may slow down traffic. Pay attention to signage and staff directions.
- There are restrictions in place on Violet Road. This road cannot be accessed on Thursdays and Fridays.
- To minimise congestion, please adhere to the one-way traffic system in place. There will be temporary traffic management, including potential one-way systems, to help manage the flow.
- Parking attendants and signage will guide you along the way.
- After dropping off, you may be directed to park at the Boldrewood Campus multi-storey car park. It is approximately a 15-minute walk back to South Hill.
Exit route
- After drop-off, when leaving South Hill, exit onto Glen Eyre Road and follow the signs back to Burgess Road or the surrounding main roads to exit the area.
- Take a left from Shell for Stoneham Way and a right for Basset Avenue A33. Retrace your route to your desired destination.
