Our receptions are open 24/7 and staff are always here to help and support you, if you see anything or anything happens to you, report this to reception immediately so we can help and support you. If you cant pop in to see us, call 02380 595777.
The Student Wellbeing team are also available 24/7 for any support you may need living in halls. Contact the wellbeing team by calling 02380 599 599 or emailing studenthub@soton.ac.uk
Campus security are also available 24/7 and can support you in times of crisis or if you need support. Meet the team here and save their emergency telephone number in your phone 023 8059 3311. Use the University Security team nonemergency phone number 023 8059 2811 to report anything that happened on campus or in Halls of Residence.
Depending on the emergency, you may need to call the emergency services, follow the steps below.
Fire 🔥
Should there be a fire in your accommodation:
- Press the red call point to set off the fire alarm
- Exit the building immediately
- Call 999 and ask for the fire brigade
- Contact reception or the fire warden attending the alarm to inform them what the situation is.
Police 🚓
- In an emergency or for a crime/incident which is currently happening, call 999
- For anything which is not an emergency or it has already happened, this can be reported to 101 or logged online
Medical 👨⚕️
- If first aid is required, contact reception immediately. First aid is available from reception, but give us a call and we can come to you if you cannot get to reception. If you are on campus, the campus security team can help. You will find both telephone numbers at the top of this page.
- For items which are not an emergency you can contact a local pharmacy for help and advice.
- If you aren't sure you can call 111 or visit their website to get help and support.
- In an emergency call 999 immediately- this is for life threatening incidents and problems such as struggling to breathe. Find out here what will happen when you speak to a 999 operator.
- Walk in centres and A&E departments can get you urgent care when needed, no matter the time of day.
Any Health and Safety or crime incidents can be reported to the University through the reporting function on Sussed and also found here.
