Help support our wildlife in the local area
Looking for a fun way to get hands-on, meet new people, and do something great for local wildlife? Come along to our hedgehog box building event, hosted in partnership with our external maintenance team Mountjoy, and help create safe spaces for one of Britain’s most beloved garden visitors!
🦔 Why hedgehogs? Hedgehogs are in serious decline across the UK, and they need our help. By building hedgehog boxes, you’ll be giving these shy, nocturnal creatures a safe place to shelter and hibernate — right here in our campus green spaces.
🛠️ What’s happening? Mountjoy will be on hand with all the tools, materials, and know-how to guide you through building a hedgehog box, which will be placed at your halls site. No experience needed, just enthusiasm! You’ll also learn simple ways to make outdoor spaces more wildlife-friendly, whether that’s your garden at home or the shared spaces around halls.
🌱 Why get involved?
- Make a real impact on local biodiversity.
- Learn practical skills and sustainability tips.
- Meet like-minded students and staff.
- Enjoy a relaxed, feel-good afternoon outdoors.
This event is part of our commitment to our wider sustainability goals. Whether you’re passionate about the planet or just curious to try something new, we’d love to see you there.
