The Cookery School kicks off with a sizzling start

Our Cookery School has officially launched, and what better way to kick things off than with a delicious stir-fried pork dish infused with ginger and honey?

In our first session, students gathered at Boldrewood Innovation Campus to learn new techniques, develop their cooking skills, and enjoy a hands-on experience in the kitchen.

Cookery School Episode 1 — Stir-fried pork with ginger and honey

Led by our experienced chefs, the session was all about mastering a simple but flavour-packed recipe.

From slicing fresh ingredients to balancing sweet and savoury flavours, attendees left with newfound confidence in their culinary abilities. Whether you're a complete beginner or already comfortable in the kitchen, our Cookery School is designed to be a fun and interactive way to improve your skills.

Stir-fried pork with ginger and honey

Ingredients:

  • 2 nests of medium egg noodles
  • 2 tsp (teaspoon) of cornflour
  • 2 tbsp (tablespoon) of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • 1 tbsp of sunflower oil 
  • 250g/9oz Port tenderloin, cut in to bite size pieces 
  • thumb sized piece of ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 green pepper, de-seeded and sliced
  • 100g mangetout
  • 1 tsp of sesame seeds

Method: 

  1. Bring a pan of salted water to the boil and cook the noodles following the pack instructions
  2. Meanwhile, mix the cornflour with 1 tbsp water, then stir in the soy sauce and honey, and set aside
  3. Heat the oil in a wok over a high heat
  4. Add the pork and cook for 2 minutes until browned all over
  5. Add the ginger, garlic, pepper and mangetout, and cook for a further 2 mins
  6. Reduce the heat, then add the soy and honey mixture, stirring and cooking until the sauce bubbles and thickens
  7. Divide the drained noodles between 2 bowls
  8. Top with the pork and vegetables, and finish with a sprinkling of sesame seeds
