At the University of Southampton, our student community is at the heart of everything we do. Following your feedback from recent Student Accommodation Satisfaction Surveys, we've implemented a range of updates to improve your experience in halls; making them more inclusive, welcoming, and supportive.
What's new?
๐ Co-created halls guides
Weโve redesigned our halls guides in collaboration with students to ensure the information is relevant, practical, and helps you feel at home โ both in halls and in the city.
๐ Inclusive community initiatives
New working groups have been established to focus on improving satisfaction for underrepresented groups, ensuring every student feels seen and supported.
๐ก Weekly events in every hall
Residence Life Assistants now host weekly events across all halls, helping you connect with others and build a strong sense of community.
๐๏ธโโ๏ธ Fitness access at mayflower
Gym memberships are now included in halls fees at Mayflower, promoting wellbeing and making fitness facilities more accessible.
๐ Postgraduate lounge at city gateway
To support our postgraduate community, weโve opened a dedicated lounge at City Gateway โ a space to relax, connect, and recharge.
๐๏ธ Revamped social spaces
Common rooms at Mayflower and Erasmus Park have been redesigned to create more inviting and functional social areas.
๐ณ Outdoor enhancements
Weโve added more outdoor furniture to shared spaces, making them more usable and welcoming for gatherings and downtime.
๐ Repurposed spaces for wellbeing
Under-used areas have been transformed into Relaxation Rooms at Wessex Lane and City Gateway, offering peaceful environments for rest and reflection.
๐ฑ Improved communication channels
Weโre reviewing how we communicate through platforms like Planon, aiming to make it easier for you to access support and services.
๐ง Maintenance visibility and support
Weโve increased the visibility of our maintenance teams to highlight the people behind the service, shared statistics on resolution timelines, and are launching a short video to help you report issues effectively via Planon.
๐ End-of-year celebrations
To mark the end of the academic year, weโve introduced farewell events to celebrate your time in halls and thank you for being part of our community.
