Inclusive sessions on the water
The University of Southampton's Watersports Centre is proud to offer the RYA Sailability programme — a welcoming and fully accessible way for individuals with additional needs to enjoy time on the water. Whether you're completely new to sailing or looking to build confidence afloat, these supportive sessions ensure everyone can experience the freedom and excitement of being out at sea.
What to expect
Each Sailability session is carefully tailored to the abilities and comfort levels of participants. With a focus on inclusion, safety, and enjoyment, sessions will:
- take place aboard the stable Flying Formula sailing yacht
- offer a safe, supportive environment to learn the basics of sailing
- be led by experienced instructors
- run for 2 hours
- depart directly from Town Quay
The UoS Watersports Centre also offers bespoke sessions for small groups, perfect for community organisations, support groups, or friends who want to experience sailing together.
