Meet Your RLA's: Glen Eyre

Hi! We are your ResLife Assistants (RLAs) at Glen Eyre this year.

We are a team of student ambassadors dedicated to welcoming you to your new home as well as supporting you while you live at Glen Eyre. We host free ResLife events in the Main Building Common Room across the academic year, including six weeks of weekly activities to help you make friends and have fun from Welcome Week to Halloween.

Plus, our Outreach RLAs will be visiting your flats to say hi and make sure your time living at Glen Eyre and studying at the University of Southampton is the best it can be.

"Walk around the Common and take it in (that still helps me when I'm overwhelmed). There are plenty of niche societies and sports that'll be new to you, so check them out. It's most likely where you'll meet your new closest friends! Study earnestly, but don't worry if you're nervous, we're here to assist you. 😊"

"Hi there, I'm Ruby and I'm excited to be working at Glen again this year. Although the first week of university can be nerve-racking, remember that everyone is in the same boat and wants to make friends too. Our job as RLAs is to help people feel connected and supported when moving into halls. We hope to create a welcoming atmosphere and make sure everyone feels at home, so don't hesitate to talk to us at events."

⭐ Hobbies: Outside of my academic studies, I have a strong passion for cinema, particularly thriller and horror films. I love watching movies and rarely need much convincing to make a trip to the cinema. My weekends are typically spent watching Formula 1 and unwinding with video games.

"Hi everyone, welcome to Southampton!! It feels like just yesterday that I was moving into university accommodation halfway across the world from home. It can feel extremely nerve-wracking and overwhelming at first, but I'm sure that with time you'll naturally settle in and enjoy it. This is a new chapter of your life, so embrace it and make the most of it because these three to four years will fly by!"
