Familiarise yourself with our arrivals guidance before you move into halls of residence at Richard Newitt.

Key collection

Keys can be collected from Glen Eyre Main Building.

Trolleys

Trolleys will be available for you to borrow to unload your belongings into your room.  

Parking

Glen Eyre is a large site with multiple parking areas. Please head to the red parking area upon arrival. 

Look out for brightly coloured red flags to guide you to the parking spaces closest to your block.

Accessing the site

A one-way system will be in operation during the arrivals period. Please familiarise yourself with the route detailed below before your arrival to avoid delays. 

Glen Eyre Access Routes (Red)

Directions via Bassett Avenue (A33)

  • Exit the M3 at Junction 14, and proceed southbound on Bassett Avenue Road (A33).  
  • Take the 4th left on your left-hand side, just after Bassett Wood Road bus stop, towards Glen Eyre Road.  
  • Stay on the route and take a left from Glen Eyre Road towards Glen Eyre Drive Road.  
  • Take a right towards the parking when you see a red signpost stating the letter ‘P’. 

Directions via Stoneham Way (A335)

If you are coming from the M27 (via Stoneham Way), please follow these directions carefully: 

  • Exit the M27 at Junction 5, following signs for A335 Stoneham Way towards Southampton.  
  • Continue along Stoneham Way (A335) and stay in the right-hand lane.  
  • Take a right from Stoneham Way A335, entering A27 Bassett Green Road. You will pass be a Co-op and HFS Greenwood Court. Continue along this route until you reach the roundabout and take the 1st exit to enter Bassett Avenue Road A33.  
  • Take the 4th left on your left-hand side, just after Bassett Wood Road bus stop, towards Glen Eyre Road.  
  • Stay on the route and take a left from Glen Eyre Road towards Glen Eyre Drive Road.  
  • Take a right towards the parking when you see a red signpost stating the letter ‘P’. 

Traffic control

  • Some roads, like Glen Eyre Road, have recently been updated with traffic-calming measures (road furniture), which may slow down traffic. Pay attention to signage and staff directions.  
  • There are restrictions in place on Violet Road. This road cannot be accessed on Thursdays and Fridays. 
  • To minimise congestion, please adhere to the one-way traffic system in place. There will be temporary traffic management, including potential one-way systems, to help manage the flow.  
  • Parking attendants and signage will guide you along the way.  
  • After dropping off, you may be directed to park at the Boldrewood Campus multi-storey car park. It is approximately a 20-minute walk back to Richard Newitt. 

Exit route

  • After drop-off, when leaving Richard Newitt follow the signs through the site back to Glen Eyre Road or the surrounding main roads to exit the area. 
  • Go straight over Glen Eyre Road onto Chetwynd Road. 
  • Turn left onto Bassett Avenue A33 and onward to your desired destination.
