Early Release from Accommodation Contract – Terms and Conditions

This document is an addendum to the Agreement for University Accommodation 2026-27, clause 14: Termination and/or Early Release, and must be read alongside it. 

14A. EARLY RELEASE – SPECIAL PROVISION FOR ERASMUS PARK RESIDENTS STUDYING AT SOUTHAMPTON CAMPUSES

14A.1 This early release from Licence arrangement is available only to students studying courses at Southampton campuses but living at Erasmus Park. This arrangement applies only where early release is requested in the method specified in clause 14A.3 by 23:59 on 31 October 2026. After that date, the normal terms and conditions of your Accommodation Licence will apply, including the usual provisions governing early release, notice periods and liability for Halls Fees.

14A.2 From 00:00 1 November 2026, this section ceases to apply. Early release requests received on or after this date will follow clause 14 in the Agreement.

14A.3 This Agreement may be brought to an end by you if the following conditions are met:

• You must give at least one week’s written notice of the date on which you intend to leave the Accommodation by emailing accommodation@soton.ac.uk. 

• The date on which you intend to leave the Accommodation must be no later than 10 October 2026. 

• You must leave the Accommodation in a reasonable state, similar to that of when you moved in, which as a minimum includes but is not limited to your room and any assigned shared kitchen storage being clean, free from your possessions and any rubbish. A charge may be levied if your room is not left in a reasonable state to cover any reasonable costs associated with any cleaning and/or maintenance required; and return your keys/key fobs to Erasmus Park reception. Any keys left in rooms will not be deemed to have been returned and you may be charged additional rent to cover the time taken for them to be found and returned to Erasmus Park reception.

• You will remain responsible for Halls Fees and any other sums due under your contract up to and including the date on which all keys are returned to Erasmus Park reception, even if this is later than the date that you specified as your leaving date.

• Early release does not affect any charges or other liabilities that arose before the release date, including charges for loss, damage, cleaning or missing keys.

• Early release is not effective until the University confirms it via email and the requirements above have been met. If keys are not returned by 23:59 10 October 2026, early release shall not be granted and the original Licence Period will stand.

• Upon Early release, your Halls Fees will be adjusted to credit back any unused portion of the contract. Any overpayment you have made will be credited back to your student finance account, where it will offset any other outstanding invoices, or be credited back to you if there are no invoices outstanding.
